Jubilee Greeting

Let the land lie fallow,
forgive debts,
proclaim liberty,
live justly,
and celebrate jubilee -
“a year of favor from the Lord.”
The Jubilee Year,
a great anniversary of Christianity,
is a time to “let faith be refreshed,
let hope increase
and let charity exert itself still more.”

The doors to our lives,
the doors to our hearts,
the doors to our homes:
let us open wide the doors to Christ.

On the threshold of the Jubilee Year
let us be given the courage
to leave something behind
to cross over into freedom.

Christ Jesus,
you are the door to the Kingdom of God,
the sheep gate to life eternal.
O portal of eternal peace,
our new and living way,
loose our sins
and open for us the door to salvation.

At the end of our days
may we be found worthy
to enter the gates of heaven.

Through him
for whom we wait
and for whom we long,
may all glory and praise be to you, Father,
in the unity of the Holy Sprit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
